IPAC - Institute of Public Administration of Canada

Programming

"IPAC is making a significant and tangible contribution to strengthening leadership, management and technical capacities of partner governments in developing countries and in implementing reforms in different sectors of good governance."
-E.T. Jackson and Associates Ltd, Evaluation and Monitoring International Management Consultants

IPAC's International Programs builds institutional and human resource capacities in foreign governments, public sector associations, and training institutes allowing them to better deliver their mandates and foster sustainable progress. We work with highly specialized practitioners from all orders of government, academia, non-governmental organizations and the private sector in Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe, the Middle East/Maghreb and Canada.

Our programming focuses on:

  • Immediate and practical development assistance
  • Provision of high-level Canadian expertise delivered through consultancies or strategic partnerships between international and Canadian public sector organizations
  • Innovative "made-to-measure" workshops and training programs -- often cascaded across political and administrative government
  • Peer-to-peer hands-on-learning through job-shadowing, mentoring and study missions

Our multi-year programming and short term projects work would not be possible without the commitment of IPAC members and others who share their public sector knowledge, expertise and resources with our international partners.

Multi-year programming:

Democratic Governance Program (DGP)
Funded by the Canadian International Development Agency's (CIDA) Partnerships with Canadians Branch and implemented by IPAC, the DGP links Canadian and international public sector professionals in long-term practitioner-to-practitioner partnerships to address the socio-economic needs identified by international partners.

Short-term projects:

Canada is fortunate to have a professional, capable civil service in all orders of government and to have a number of universities and colleges across Canada offering degree programs in public administration, public policy and management. IPAC leverages this Canadian comparative advantage and organizes study tours for international delegations to engage with senior Canadian professionals on priority issues.
