This AI Productivity Skills training series, is designed to empower public servants with essential AI knowledge and skills.

2026 Program Modules

Participants will engage in three integrated modules designed to move beyond foundational AI knowledge and into real-world application—equipping public servants to work effectively with AI in today’s evolving, agent-enabled environment.

  1. Fundamentals of Generative AI
    • A 102-level module that builds on foundational AI literacy by reinforcing core concepts and advancing into practical, hands-on application using real-world public sector scenarios.
  2. Organizational Adoption: Upskilling & Change Readiness
    • Focus on how teams and organizations can effectively adopt AI—developing the skills, behaviours, and human-centred approaches needed to integrate AI into workflows, support decision-making, and drive responsible innovation.
  3. Agentic AI: Overview of Tools
    • Explore the next evolution of AI—agentic systems—and how they are transforming knowledge work. Participants will see how AI can be embedded into day-to-day tasks, supporting productivity, learning, and service delivery across the public sector.

     

Training will be delivered through a blended, AI-enabled learning experience—combining AI avatar-led instruction, live expert engagement, and hands-on application—led by Microsoft in conjunction with our training delivery partner KPMG.

Can’t make every session live? No problem. All registrants will have access to session recordings after each session, so you can learn on your own schedule.

  • Dates: April 29, May 6, and May 13, 2026 @ 1:00 - 2:15 PM ET
  • Location: Virtual (Online via Microsoft Teams Platform)

Please note: These sessions will be delivered in English. All registrants will receive access to session recordings after each session, allowing you to revisit key concepts and complete the training at your own pace.

Program Overview

This series consists of three live, virtual sessions designed to move beyond foundational AI knowledge and into real-world application. Each 75-minute session blends AI-led instruction with live expert engagement and hands-on activities—reflecting how AI is being used in today’s workplace.

Participants will have opportunities to engage through live Q&A and guided exercises, applying concepts in real time. Training is delivered by Microsoft in conjunction with our training delivery partner KPMG, with a focus on practical use in a public sector context.

Additional Support and Resources

Each participant cohort will have two hours of additional time to engage with a KPMG expert for any outstanding questions. To reinforce your learning journey beyond the workshops, we will provide curated 'leave behinds' that serve as valuable resources for ongoing development and practical application of skills.

Eligibility

Open to all public servants in Canada. Free registration is available for IPAC institutional partners and public sector employees.

This series is ideal for public sector leaders, teams, and professionals at all levels who are looking to build practical, human-centred skills for the responsible and effective use of generative AI.

Who can participate in the AI Skills Training Series?

This program is open to all Canadian public servants, regardless of role or level. It is designed for anyone looking to move beyond basic awareness and begin applying AI in their day-to-day work.

How much does it cost?

The program is completely free for Canadian public servants.

Do I need prior knowledge of AI?

No prior AI experience is required. The series reinforces foundational concepts while introducing practical, hands-on applications—making it suitable for both new and returning participants.

What is the format of the sessions?

Each session is 75 minutes long and delivered virtually via Microsoft Teams. Sessions combine AI-led instruction, live expert engagement, and hands-on interactive exercises. Participants will also have opportunities to engage through live Q&A.

Will I receive a certificate for completing the series?

Yes, participants who attend all three sessions will receive a certificate of completion.

Can I attend just one session, or do I need to participate in all three?

You are welcome to attend individual sessions; however, we recommend completing the full series to maximize your learning experience. A certificate of completion is only awarded to participants who attend all three sessions.

What if I miss a live session? Are the sessions recorded?

Yes, all sessions are recorded and made available to registered participants after each session.

How do I access the recordings?

Recordings will be shared with all registered participants following each session. Be sure to register in advance to receive access.

Can I ask questions during the sessions?

Yes. Each session includes a live Q&A segment where participants can engage directly with subject matter experts and ask questions through the platform.
