As the Infrastructure Services (IS) Capital Portfolio Advisor, you will support the development of balanced capital investment plans and provide financial guidance that adheres to financial policies and best practices for project management. Reporting to the Senior Capital Consultant, you will play a critical role in supporting the Stage Gating process, providing guidance to Project Managers with Stage Gating submissions as well as coordinating and facilitating Stage Gating meetings as a part of portfolio management. Primary duties include:

  • Review and compile information related to the capital budget to inform the development of investment plans, budget setting, and ensuring balanced funding to meet existing and new infrastructure/service needs.
  • Monitor progress of capital infrastructure projects against the investment plan, identifying changes in cash flow and triggering budget transfers to ensure adequate project funding.
  • Identify opportunities to coordinate projects across services to realize efficiencies, cost savings, and reduction in service disruptions.
  • Organize and facilitate Stage Gate Committee meetings, documenting and communicating Committee decisions to Project Managers and the Project Controls team with accuracy and consistency.
  • Compile and present financial information related to capital budget, project expenditures, contingency funds, and forecasts to support informed investment decisions and highlight budgetary risks.
  • Review the stage gating practices, processes, procedures, and identify continuous improvements to realize efficiencies.
  • Generate consolidated reports on capital portfolios, programs, and projects, ensuring accurate, timely, and complete data-driven decision making.

     

    Qualifications

     

  • A degree in Business, Commerce, or a related discipline, with at least 3 years of related experience such as capital reporting, coordination, and business analysis.
  • Strong working knowledge of asset management systems, project management practices, and project reporting databases is essential.
  • Previous experience using PeopleSoft Asset Management, as well as experience creating queries and developing reports from databases, is an asset.
  • Previous experience working with and writing macros to manage data sets in Microsoft Excel would be considered an asset.
  • The successful candidate will possess strong collaboration and presentation skills, combined with a proactive approach to process improvement.
