Vanier Medal

Congratulations to the 2023 Vanier Medal Winner, Dr. Catherine Cook!

The Institute of Public Administration of Canada (IPAC) is pleased to announce that Dr. Catherine Cook is the recipient of the prestigious 2023 Vanier Medal. The Vanier Medal is awarded annually to recognize exceptional achievement in the public realm.

Dr. Cook is the first Indigenous recipient of the Vanier Medal. She has had a distinguished career of more than thirty-five years as a practicing physician and as a faculty member at the University of Manitoba.

Dr. Cook will accept the Vanier Medal at IPAC’s Annual Conference in Ottawa from September 13-15, 2023, where she will speak on the topic of Indigenous health outcomes. Her Honour the Honourable Elizabeth Dowdeswell, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, will present the award to Dr. Cook at the Opening Reception on September 13.
