The Faculty of Management at Dalhousie University is seeking a visionary Dean who will embrace the pluralism of the Faculty’s four schools (Rowe School of Business, School for Resource and Environmental Studies, School of Public Administration, and the School of Information Management) and five centres. By engaging faculty, staff and students, and the private and public sectors in a collaborative process, the Faculty has created novel and experiential learning approaches to management education and research that drive sustainable economies.
The new Dean will build and maintain strong relationships and credibility with senior administrative, academic, and student leaders across the University, and within the Faculty. The Dean will promote research and teaching excellence and scholarly contributions within all disciplines. Critical to this success will be the Dean’s ability to support Directors of the Schools and Centres in attracting and retaining outstanding faculty, staff and students. The Dean, using strengths in change management and planning, will develop and implement a strategy to leverage this unique Faculty configuration to build the stature of the four distinct schools in the Faculty nationally and internationally.
As the ideal candidate, you are an experienced administrator who is objective, creative and enthusiastic. You have experience leading, guiding, and supporting a team that can optimise the Faculty’s structure, financial resources, administrative processes, and academic programs. A collaborative and transparent decision-maker, you have an aptitude for fundraising and innovative partnerships, strategic planning, and experience working in research intensive environments.
