The Ministry of Health, Mental Health and Addictions Policy, Accountability and Provincial Partnerships Branch, is hiring for three Policy Analyst positions.

Working in the Ministry of Health, you will be part of the team that provides policy and program advice to government on the Province's publicly funded mental health and addictions care continuum. Your work will be done in alignment with Roadmap to Wellness, the Province's plan to build a comprehensive and connected mental health and addictions system that will provide access to consistent, evidence-based care for all Ontarians, no matter what their age and where they live.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will support the work of the branch by:

• Supporting the day-to-day operations of the policy branch, including coordinating and developing responses to incoming requests for information from internal and external stakeholders.

• Conducting research and supporting the development of policy and program options for decision-makers across a range of areas, including policy and program design, regulation and legislation, and accountability instruments.

• Providing project and program leadership.

• Developing partnerships with colleagues at Ontario Health and other key health system stakeholders.

Communication, Relationship Management and Computer Skills:

• You can write well and prepare written products independently on tight timelines.

• You can prepare and present complex research analyses, a detailed policy framework, speeches, briefing papers and other products.

• You can work with stakeholders to achieve mutual goals, and identify opportunities for collaboration.

• You can prepare a variety of material using office software applications, and access the Internet as a research tool.

Project Management, Negotiation and Facilitation Skills:

• You can provide project planning and leadership on multi-stakeholder initiatives involving internal and external stakeholders.

• You can work collaboratively with team members to manage deadlines and competing priorities.

Policy Development, Program Management and Research Expertise:

• You have knowledge of policy and research tools, program performance management, accountability methodologies and metrics.

• You are experienced in developing and evaluating strategic and operational policies, applying program performance to inform policies and translating policy into legislation or program implementation.

• You have the ability to acquire and apply knowledge of policy, legislation and regulation development processes.

Innovation, Creativity and Strategic Thinking Skills:

• You can understand the goals of Roadmap to Wellness and identify opportunities in current or future business planning, policy and program design that align with Roadmap.

• You can identify ways to create more value-added solutions for stakeholders.

Healthcare Knowledge:

• You have knowledge of the mental health and addictions sector, including key issues and system-level challenges.

• You have knowledge of the health sector, including health issues, accountability mechanisms and governance.

• You have the ability to gain knowledge of healthcare accountability mechanisms, quality improvement practices, productivity and governance.

• You have the ability to gain knowledge of mental health and addictions system trends, models of program delivery, funding and financial requirements, relevant legislation and regulations, the role of the ministry, government priorities and critical issues.

Salary Range: $65,174 - $91,119 Per Year
